Text

My dear Harry:

I am sending you a cable today which refers to this letter.
I have consulted with Mr. Bryan, who cordially concurs with me in the desire that you should remain in Germany as Ambassador from the United States, and I drop you this line to tell you that in a recent talk with Cleve Dodge he said, in his characteristic generous way, that he very much desired, if you thought that the salary of the post would be insufficient for your proper support, to supplement it, if necessary, up to fifteen or twenty thousand dollars a year. You know how genuine this offer is, and it makes me happy to transmit it. In haste

Woodrow Wilson

Dr. Henry B. Fine,
Munich, Germany.
