Text
Hon. Woodrow Wilson,
Washington, D.C.
My dear President Wilson,
I am enclosing herewith an invitation to a luncheon which I am giving in Newark on Tuesday Oct 29th to approximately two hundred of the most prominent citizens of New Jersey.
I am doing this at the request of the national War Work Council to arouse interest in the great drives for $170,500,000 which is to be launched early in November in compliance with your suggestions as a United War Work Campaign.
Dr. John R. Mott will be the principal speaker. He will be followed by the Rr-Rev. Edwin S. Lines, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark, Rr-Rev. John J. O’Connor, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church, Mr. Jacob H. Schiff, and Mr. Talcot Williams. I wish very much indeed that it were possible for you to join us. I sincerely hope that you are keeping well under the terrific strain which is put upon you these days. With kind regards, believe me, dear Mr. President
Very Sincerely Yours,
Samuel S. Dennis
