Dear Mr. President:

Referring to your note of May 11, 1917, requesting weekly reports of allotments made from the $100,000,000 appropriation for “National Security and Defense,” I have to advise you that since the date of the tenth report transmitted to you by letter of July 21, 1917, notice of your approval of the following additional allotment has been received at the Treasury Department:

Amount of allotments as reported in Department letter of July 21, 1917 -------- $18,397,087.93

July 27, 1917. -- To Executive, for continuing the immediate work of
organizing the Food Administration ------------------------------------------------------- 150,000.00

To date, therefore, the charges against the $100,000,000 appropriation for
“National Security and Defense” have been--------------------------------------------- 18,547,087.93

Leaving an unallotted balance July 28, 1917, of -------------------------------------- 81,452,912.07

Reports relating to further allotments will be furnished you weekly as requested.
