FRIDAY.
The President remained in his room during the most of the day. I had been working hard on his cold with the result that it was now beginning to show signs of clearing up. In fact, so noticeable was the improvement that during the afternoon I suggested to the President that it was necessary for him to take some exercise, so he and Mrs. Wilson came on deck and we took a two-mile walk around the glass-enclosed deck. The President enjoyed the exercise very much and as a result when he returned to his quarters he was able to eat a very hearty dinner. He asked me what the program was for the evening, and I told him that they had a moving-picture show which would be put on at eight o’clock in the main dining salon. He decided that he would go, and he and Mrs. Wilson and myself went up-stairs and enjoyed the pictures. Afterwards the President retired and slept fine.
