Dear Admiral
Some of these foolish doctors over here seem to think there is “something the matter with me inside” Before anybody waves a knife over my “tummy” I would like to have your O.K. on the proceedings.
I know that you are busy and the only claim I have is that you are a kind hearted old chap, so if you feel that you would rather be relieved of my call do not hesistate to tell me so.
If you can spare a few minutes sometime next week, preferably on Saturday, May 21st, I should much appreicate it.
Can you also tell me whether, if you should think it necessary, I could get to see Dr. James Mitchell the same day, and whether if their is any cutting to be done he would go over to Providence Hospital and do it for me? If more convenient for you, or if better for other reasons, I can come over earlier, but Saturday would be best for me—unless trouble starts afresh in the meantime. I am truly sorry to worry you about this, but I will feel so much better about it if you and Mitchell say I should have it done.
Thanks, you old sea dog, and with love
Sincerely yours
Sherman Allen
