Dearest Altrude
Here we are again in this heavenly Maine air and breathing deeply to get it all in our lungs in place of that awful steam we had in Wash.
I do hope you are all better and that Gordon is growing every day—give them all 3 my love.
You will be surprised to hear that I am planning to sail on August 28th for a few weeks in Europe and I am thrilled by the prospect
Belle Baruch cabled me to come and visit her for a few weeks and Mr. B. cabled he wanted to give me the trip—so—of course I am going! Randolph will stay here until the 7 of Sept. & then go home—Look in on him when you can—I suppose the dear Dr. is in Saratoga and is—I trust—having good luck—My love to him when you write.
We had a fine day on Monday when Mr Pennington took us 30 miles down the Bay fishing—He is crazy about Polly & telephoned to know if she & Carter could go with us—Polly said he was not here & she had her sister & a friend Mrs. Clapp staying with her—so Mr. P. said bring them along—which she did & we all had a jolly day—All three of them asked about you & said sweet things about you—We are all to take supper with them Sunday night at Mrs McArdles camp & I hope Carter will be hereI have to stop to go to Camden—Should you be writing Mrs Barkley tell her I am coming over and a line to the Banker’s Trust—Place VendomeParis will reach me—Randolph joins me in love to you all.
Miss Edith
