Text

Dear Dr. Grayson

The clay model of Mr. Wilson represents the exact copy of the face which you saw at the moment I took the cast. As you remember, the cast was made more than a day after death. If the expression on the face at the moment I took the cast satisfies Mrs. Wilson and you, I shall leave it as it is. But, perhaps, Mrs. Wilson would prefer to change the expression of death to that of a supposedly sleeping man. I should be glad to carry out her wishes, and to hear from you about it.

You very kindly promised to send me various photographs of Mr. Wilson, especially those which were taken a few years before his death.

Thanking you very kindly for your interest, and for any favors you might do for me, I am

Sincerely yours,

V. Fortunato.
