To. Rear Admiral
T Cary Grayson -

My Dear Sir

Pardon- me -kindly for tresspassing on your too valuable time-and already tried patience and-please-excuse my temerity in assuming to give any advice on - or making any suggestions- My sincere-heartfelt interest in your distinguished patient - is my inspiration and motive - Some years ago- I had a very severe case of neurasthenia — mal nutrition some designated - Hope for my ultimate recovery was at some stages of my illness abandoned - I was attended by fine physicians - two from your City - one from Richmond men of high position and prominence in the profession - I had a number nurses - day and night - No one possibly could have had more care-better attention-or more physicians or skill and experience - I was given up - two said nothing could be done for me - At last - Dr. Thomas A Williams of your City was called in - he undertook my case - And my recovery was quite instantaneous - My recuperation marvelous - wonderful - All said - it was the result and effect of his skillful treatment - My case-my cure - has been made a matter of discussion - it is published in some publications of physicians of the Northwest - by some Chicago Medical publishing house - In the late war Dr Williams I am informed had charge in Paris of a Soldiers Hospital for the treatment of patients with nerve diseases - I consider him one of the most skillful experienced-specialist for this class of patients and I hear he is is so considered - Now I write this without the knowledge-assent or consent of Dr Williams- He might not be pleased if he knew that I had written - nor - in doing so - do I advise his employment for the President- nor in the slightest degree or way do I reflect on those men in attendance - I think only to give the facts of my case - with the hope for the speedy recovery of the President and am with much respect-

Your .

Jno T Goolrick
