Dear Mr. President

Referring to your note of May 11, 1917, requesting weekly reports of allotments made from the appropriation of $100,000,000 for "National Security and Defense," I have to advise you that since the date of the 37th report given you by letter of the 16th instant, notices of your approval of the following additional allotments have been received:

W., Washington, D.C. Defense fund to be reimbursed when Congress shall have provided available moneys. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -100,000.00

To date, therefore, the charges against the appropriation of $100,000,000 have been- - - - - - - - - - - - -48,989,390.96

Leaving an unallotted balance February 23, 1918, of - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 51,010,609.04

NOTE.--Temporary allotments amounting to $6,413,000 will be returned to the Defense Fund after available moneys have been provided by Congress, increasing present unalloted balance to $57,423,609.04.

Reports relating to further allotments will be furnished you weekly as requested.
