Dear Madam
Will you please consult your husband about the contents of this letter and be kind enough to answer as soon as possible.

My husband and brother are both in the service and my mother and I are alone. We have lived in the place we are in now for more than one year, have never missed one month without paying our rent. A month ago we received a notice to move at once. When we go to rent a house the owner asks for references and as soon as he hears we have boys in the service, they won't rent us their property. One week ago we had summons into court; we were (my mother and I) to appear this morning. Upon going to the court we found the plaintiff didn't appear against us. But at the same time the Judge informed us we must vacate this property in at least 30 days. He informed us that if we weren't out at the end of thirty days he would have our furniture set in the street. As it is almost impossible for us to find another place decided to write you and see if you could let me know if President Wilson's commandments didn't state that a wife or mother of a soldier couldn't be forced out of their homes as long as their boys were in service. My husband is in France and my brother is in Camp Greenleaf. If you would be kind enough to advise a troubled one as to what to do. Please answer.
