My dear Uncle Woodrow

At this time I know your hands are unusually full and I will get right down to business. Mr. Dyer is very anxious to volunteer his services to his country and is determined to do so if he can get a commission as captain, so that he may be able to provide for our three little folks and me - He has written you, asking you to give him this commission, and I hope you will see fit to give him the commission. We will certainly appreciate your kindness. Of course I hate for him to even talk about leaving us to go to war, but if he feels it is his duty to enlist, I will not stand in his way.
Long letter from Aunt Kate to my brother Will K. telling me of inauguration and other things that they enjoyed very much during their stay in Washington - How I wish I could have been there - Wont worry you longer - Love to all from all - My prayers are with & for you constantly during these trying times - Let us hear from you in regard to giving Mr. Dyer the commission and we will appreciate it very much.
Lovingly

Your Niece
Jessie K. Dyer.
