Suggested draft of letter to Mr McAdoo and Mr Garfield from the President:
Owing to the vital necessity of ammonia for ammunition purposes and for the preservation of food, and to the further fact that if the maximum production is maintained, there cannot be enough produced for these two purposes, let alone other uses important to the winning of the war, such as fertilizers, dry batteries, textile uses, etc., you are requested to see that all plants producing ammonia are kept in full operation.
