Dearest Margaret

I am so sorry I missed so much of your last visit. It nearly broke my heart to have you there on Sunday and yet not to see you. But, I hope you dont mind. I am coming up to New York on Tuesday next and, can I spend the night with you and so get a really truly glimpse of you? I wont be in Philadelphia at all that week, because Mother and I are going to Orange to the Conference of Conventions and Charities. We spend Monday and Tuesday there, and on Tuesday afternoon, after I get Mother safely off I will come into New York. It is no use going all the way home when my meetings on Wednesday begin so early that I would have to run right off to New York the next morning any way. Will it be convenient for you sweet heart? Please tell me if it wont be. Please tell me again what time your dinner is so that I can plan to get to you in time.
And Margie, Mr Miller wants me to go to the theatre that night with him. The clothes problem drives me wild. What do people wear to the theatre at night anyway. Which would be best, my pink and green with the spangled pearl breastplate, or my velvet. And would you have any long coat to lend me or must I lug one all through the Orange Conference? Of course my velvet is easiest to carry around, but I have entertained him in that every time he has come. Please advise me and do it in time. Write right away so that I get it on Saturday without fail, or special delivery for Sunday.
I am enclosing two tickets sent me by the National Board. Perhaps you can use or dispose of them in some way.

With a whole heartful of love from

Your devoted sister

Jessie.
