My dear Mr. Heath,

You seem to have misunderstood me about the use of the Nation's notice of “The State.” I meant to advise simply that you use none of it,—not that you use all of it. I don't think it worth using at all.

I think the notice in the Deutsche Litteraturzeitung very fair indeed. Prof. Brie is a very considerable authority. You will probably want to use some of his sentences in the circular (?)
