Text

My dear Heath:

It was delightful to get your letter of November 27th. You may be sure I understand perfectly how you act and will act in the matter of recommendations for appointments to office. I know your principle so well that your explanation was not needed.

Alas, my dear fellow, I am afraid I can not stop so much as twenty-four hours at Charlottesville, but you may be sure that I will stop as long as possible, if only to get a glimpse of you. I foresee that I shall have to pay for this vacation by a very breathless rush of work after I get back and that I shall not be at liberty to take my pleasure many hours at a time. I am struggling with masses of correspondence even down here.

Always

Affectionately yours,
Woodrow Wilson
