Dearest;
At last I have been able to cash my cheque so was able to buy you a cheque in London, enclosed, for £20 which you can put into your banking account. I wonder if you have already changed your bank to Crouch End.
Your letter with the dividend warrant also received O.K. I will reply later. Strange news about Dora, I thought she was never going to get married, but as Shaw says, “You never can tell.”
These flying stunts are keeping us all on hot coals. I never got anything to eat on Saturday because I was on the flying grounds all the time having bluffed my way in by representing myself as belonging to the American Embassy. I lent my umbrella to the Ambassador who was in danger of getting soaked, as I had my mac. and he had no protection at all, but he never returned it to me, the dog!
Yesterday Sunday, I worked 14 hours. The whole staff dispersed to several watching points, so I had a pretty severe doing, too. What is needed in these cases is a special staff of aircraft experts: it is very difficult to deal with this kind of reporting.
I am getting this off in a hurry so as to get the money to you in good time. Love to all,
Thine,
Jack
