Text
Friday July 23
Dearest;
Today I got my British visa and I shall get the German F.O. permit tomorrow and then there is only the local police stamp – very complicated business! But I am leaving here next Wednesday morning about 7.30 and hope to arrive in Rotterdam the same evening 11.30
A long ride! Then sleep at R’dam, look up Aunt L. in the morning and go in the afternoon to Middelburg, sleep and spend Friday; get the Flushing boat sailing on Saturday morning at daybreak and arrive Charing X about 3 pm Saturday where I shall hope to see all the (clubs/dubs?) and a motor.
Moyston has been ordered post haste back to Ireland which leaves Enderis in a hole but he is a good sort and says I am entitled to go home and he will try & carry on with Easterling, of whom, by the way, there is no sign at the time of writing. But whatever happens, I am off on Wednesday, as said before, I think this is settled.
I think that bungalow is a bargain, I am glad you closed with it, as it belongs, it seems, to people you know or whose friends you know. You generally seem to be lucky with houses, and this seems to be just what we require. Now if we could find some decent people to take our flat, everything would be O.K.
I hope I can have a holiday, too, as I haven’t had a single day off – neither has Enderis himself, for that matter. But with the whole world topsy-turvy it is best not to expect much.
I think Saturday afternoon is a good time to get home, and besides, there’s the tea!!
With all my love to you all,
Thine,
Jack.
