Dearest;
Hooray! Word has just come from the London Office that Easterling will be starting for Berlin next week; that is, the week when you will receive this letter. Many lamentations from Enderis, who is afraid the new man will need a lot of training. We don’t know of course how much German he knows. I shall remain a couple of days after his arrival and meanwhile get my papers ready, which I hear is an awful business here. So I think this time you may be sure I shall be with you before the end of this month.
Your short note of the 12th arrived before your letter of the 10th with contributions from the babes which I was very glad of. I shall hold forth to them about these contributions when I get home, also about the photo which strangely reminded me of Crosse & Blackwell’s jam factory.
It is very hot today; I should think the hottest day of the year; I hope it will not be so baking the day I have to travel.
I think I will send postcards after this, and save the news for when I get home.
Dear love to all of yez, and kisses all round from
Thine,
Jack.
Jack.
