Text

13 Place de la Bourse Paris, June 10 [no year]

Dearest,

I was glad to hear that our sticks are in good condition, which is excellent after three years storage! By this time I expect everything is more or less straight but we will have to postpone our housewarming party until the Huns sign.

No, the strikes here don’t bother me much, but it is hard lines on old papa Delanneau, our night “boy” who is 76 and has to walk to and from business, four miles or so each way, night and morning because the tube doesn’t run, nor trams. I am enclosing [the] Jones’ receipt for the £ 1.2. -, also another bill for May and June; most likely you have paid all the charges.

You might see the people at Highgate P.O. about the enclosed notice about redirecting letters. All letters had better be readdressed to 10 Stanhope Rd now, that being permanent. For your amusement I enclose a cutting from the Daily Mail Paris edition, about “Journalists at the Conference, A Study in Types.”

This letter I suppose will cross one from you telling me that the cheque has landed all right; I mailed it on the 6th, which was the date also of your last letter.

There is not the least certainty yet about my transfer, as regards date, but it’s a long lane that has no turning, and surely it will not be much longer now. There will be a letter from you possibly in the morning so will not write more just now.

There will be a letter from you possibly in the morning so will not write more just now. I have an article to get off. Much love, dearest; tell me how you feel in your new home, and the babes.

Thine,
Jack
