April 22, 1918.
My dear Miss Margaret.
I sincerely beg your pardon for this unseemly delay in answering your letter forwarding check to cover expenses for [?] The truth is it got away from me and was lost among some other papers. I have never had the pleasure of meeting you, but I hope you are like your mother, whom I knew as a lovely girl and have known as a lovelier woman. It is not necessary to dwell upon the sorrows and trials of these disturbing days. There are so many of Ochs and Wise families, in all their branches, in this terrible war that the burden rests equally upon us all. Please give my love to your parents and believe me, with cordial greeting,
Sincerely yours
Isidor Wise
