Text

The President,
The White House, Washington.

Dear Governor:

Your letter about the challenge of the WORLD to the TAGEBLATT has come. It was addressed to Manchester instead of Magnolia which delayed it.

I have been conscious of the pitfalls in such a debate, but I believe they can be avoided. Cobb writes me this morning as follows:

“I shall try to work out a general plan embodying my own theory in that debate and send it to you in a few days. The more I think of it, the more it appeals to me”.

When I receive his plan I will write further.

Affectionately yours,

EM House
Magnolia, Mass.
