Dear Admiral

It was a very great pleasure to have had a talk with you the other day -- quite like old times! I have always deeply appreciated our friendship and regretted that there were so few opportunities of seeing you. I hope later to have a chance to talk with you about many of the things which have arisen recently in connection with our work.

I deeply appreciated, also, your helpfulness in looking me over physically. I have the feeling of being perfectly safe in your hands. I think that considerable of my difficulty just now is due to the reaction from a year of unusually hard work. I am dog tired, and I think that a good rest, with attention to the warnings which you gave me, ought to put me in reasonably good condition again.

I failed to ask you one important question. My work on the biography requires very intense and steady application. Do you think that this is likely to increase the difficulty you found? I think this is important for me to know.

Incidentally, I neglected to get a copy of the prescription which you gave me. Could you send me a duplicate of it, so that I can get it filled up here?

Cordially yours,

Ray Stannard Baker
