My dear Cary
Many thanks for cable—Did I understand correctly that My Own and Salubria were lame—Tough luck.
How are you?
Those political friends of yours are still looking for me—Of course I will make some contribution but never again what I did before—So you know that lot of the professionals informed people that they were going to get rid of me—George Bennan informed Joe Robinson that he would have to repudiate me if JTR wanted his support—That lets me out.
For four years we worked hard & financed the party to find it wrecked by a lot of cheap people. And oh saddest of all and I weep when I think of it Joe Tumulty cut me dead–Weep for me—Having a fine time—Family are happy.
I hope you did well this year—Will be home about ten days after you receive this Love to Mrs Grayson—Ask here what she does for worry now that I am away.
Love to boys—Any more gold cups in sight.
Anxious to see you and get the answer to the unsolved problem of “Who brought you here”—
Devotedly
Bernie
