Text

Dear Cary

I am awfully sorry I shall be unable to partake of your hospitality on the 23d inst., as I am too busy on a NC farm gathering alfalfa et al. Perhaps, while the members are gathering next Tuesday, I shall be having an argument with a covey of quail in a near by alfalfa field, but I shall be so sorry to miss the ranting none the less—

Adolphus Staton
