Dear Mr Baker
Any small effort on my part for the nomination of the man whom I believed would have made a noble leader is generously requited by your very gracious letter.
Ralph Hayes & your other friends conducted themselves magnificently. It was a pleasure to be again be associated with them in support of a man you whom we felt to be the logical successor of our great our great President Wilson.
With renewed expression of my appreciation of yr letter & with my sincere esteem, I remain yours faithfully
Your letter was wonderful & I cannot adequately thank you for it. When one works discretely for a cause man and a man cause, such, as we did, the reward and of satisfaction is all that one’s one needs.
having tried for the best the satisfaction of having tried for the best is all that one needs.t
There is great in having tried for the best. By this token you must feel that your splendid efforts were not in vain.
You have my admiration, appreciation & esteem—
