Text

Dearest Trudie

It was very hard to hear you on the telephone this afternoon and the telephone was in the presence of all the Board and I could not talk. They did not know who I was talking to but I felt embarrassed. I am so sorry you are feeling badly & I wish that I could be with you, my darling.

I am sending you under separate cover by mail a little bottle of Cascara Evacuant which will afford you great relief, I think. The dose is from one fourth to one half teaspoonful in a half ne glass of water before retiring. The action of this drug is slow and not violent. If this dose is not sufficient take three quarters of a teaspoonful. To begin with, I think one third teaspoonful is sufficient—take on retiring at night.

If you are not all right, my precious, I’ll drop everything and come to you. But I think, and hope, you will soon feel all right.

If you prefer it, go to the drugstore and ask for solution of Citrate of Magnesia, one bottle—and take it—the bottle full in three divided doses one hour apart. You can take this in the morning, but not immediately after eating. but about one hour after. This is a temporary treatment—but not as good and lasting as the Cascara.

Neither of these drugs interfer with the Stychnia tablets, in case you need to take that for nausea.

I’ll call you to-morrow. I hate so for you to feel sick while away from me especially—I love you my darling. You will soon feel better, I am sure.
