Text

My dearest,

I landed here safely this morning at eight o’clock and found that the President and Mrs. Wilson were expected any minute. They came in about nine. As you know they had been off over Sunday on the Mayflower. It was fortunate I returned when I did because the President is quite sick and was asking for me. I put him to bed and provided the best relief I could—at best, it has been an uncomfortable day for him. I am hoping for better luck to-morrow, for him. Miss E. and I had lunch and dinner alone, both she and the President asked many, many questions concerning you and the boys. They seemed really glad to have me back.

I miss you terribly, and am hoping to get back to you and the boys as soon as possible. That visit was full of happiness for me. I loved every second of it & it did me lots of good
