Text

My dear Admiral Grayson

You must know how much I appreciate your desiring my moral support, advice and counsel regarding the multifarious duties in connection with the Inaugural Committee.

While realizing fully that nothing I could offer would be new and not already known, I shall hold myself in readiness at all times to do my utmost.

The statement made by some evil-minded observer to the effect that you believed you were inaugurating Landon I feel was totally unjustified. This remark was occasioned, I believe, by the announcement of the appointment of seven Republicans in one day—all to very important assignments.

With assurances of my appreciation and eagerness to serve you,

I am,

Sincerely yours,

EM WATSON
