Dear Doctor
I am Writing these few Lines as I am in awful Hard Luck out of 8 of us Brothers I am the only one Left I just Lost the Last Brother I Had I have Been Down Sick all Winter and most of the Time this Spring and Summer and I owe 55 Dollars for Beding Expenses yet So you Know just What Hard Luck I have
I Wanted Know if you would Please Loan me a Little money and I will Return it to you just as Soon as I get on my feet again—I hated to Do this But I Know you were one friend I Could under these circumstances
My Best Regards to Mrs Grayson also the Children
