Text

Dearest,

Thursday night. This afternoon I went home. Gordon greeted me by saying; “hello Dady, Mother has gone to New York.” He and Brother baby were playing on the bed in my room. Irene was with them, and seemed to be having the happiest kind of a time. It did not seem like home without my darling.

I had lunch with BMB at the Shoreham alone. He del declined the Treasury, and in stating his reasons, made a great impression on the President. His stock is sky high.

I attended to all the items you gave me a memorandum about—except we did not suceed in reaching Miss Davis by telephone.

Our friend Mr. Sims is poorly, but a bit more encouraging. Don’t worry—he will come out all right in time.

To-night, I dined with BMB, Mr. Glasgow of Phila, Mr. Page, Mr. De Lancey Nichol and Mrs. Walter Brooks at the Shoreham. All of the above party omitting Mrs. Brooks, & with the addition of WG McAdoo, asst. Secretary Crowell accompanied BMB on his private car for a visit to South Carolina. They left a nine o’clock to-night. While I miss you terribly, everything is moving along as well as could be expected in your absence.

Mayor Lung of Schenecady, NY did not forget to call me over the telephone to-night. Mrs. McAdoo is back here. Have a good time and don’t worry or get uneasy about your three fellows. We will be good—Remember me to Mr. & Mrs. Potter and thank them for being good to my Trudie.

With all my love—
