My dear Mr. Palmer:
Please allow me again to extend my heartiest congratulations on your appointment as Attorney General. I am delighted over your selection, and I can truly say that I do not know of any appointment that has met with such universal approval. The echoes that I get over here are that you are certainly making good.
I read the report which you sent me with a great deal of interest. Unfortunately, the President did not get an opportunity to read it on the GEORGE WASHINGTON, as he was sick part of the time coming over, and he was confronted with such an accumulation of correspondence and official documents that it was impossible for him to examine your report. However, I told him in detail about the contents, and he agreed that it was a wonderful accomplishment.
If you could see what the President is doing and accomplishing over here, notwithstanding the heavy odds that he is facing on all sides, you would appreciate more than ever his bigness of brain and force and vision, and, last but not least, his wonderful courage.
With kindest regards and best wishes,Cary T. GraysonHon. A. Mitchell Palmer,Attorney General,Washington, D.
