Rear Admiral Cary T. Grayson,
Washington, DC
Sir
I do myself the honor, on behalf of Mrs. Haynsworth and of her brother, Perry Beattie, to tender to the President the use of their cottage in Grove Park, Asheville, NC #40 Edgemont Road.
This cottage is within a stone’s throw of the golf links, and is near Grove Park Inn. It has four bedrooms on the second floor, with three bathrooms, and four closets-
The first floor has reception room, den, dining room, kitchen, and small breakfast room.
The basement has two servants rooms with bath, and hotwater furnace.
It is furnished throughout, including silver and linen. There is a double garage in the rear. It has never been occupied, except a few days by the owners, having been completed only in October. It receives a flood of sunshine and has a full view of Mt. Pisgah, and other peaks.
Ashville has some fifty miles of paved roads, running out in all directions, furnishing excellent motoring in all kinds of weather.
Grove Park is itself on the slope of Sunset Mountain, the road being paved to the top.
The elevation, invigorating atmosphere, and sunshine, as well as the beautiful scenery, and an excellent golf course combine to offer ideal conditions under which the President could recuperate his strength.
The owners would feel highly honored should the President see his way clear to make use of this offer.
The owners make this offer with additional pleasure, because of their friendship for the President’s cousin, Mrs. Woodrow, who lives near Asheville.
Respectfully
Hugh C. Haynsworth
