Text

My dear Dr. Grayson

Thank you ever so much for the book which arrived day before yesterday—Of course it made me boiling mad—but I was anxious to see it and you were awfully good to send it to me—

We have watched the papers for the card from Saratoga and I could have cried over Mondays results—but I hope “Love Tap” was played “across the Board” and so made up for not coming in first.

We have been getting an “okey” & when I told “Gen Scott” I was going to write you he said “well everything is very satisfactory it is not necessary to go in to particulars but I am watching very carefully during the Dr’s absence and can report things satisfactory”

The weather is delightful and even Stockton has cheered up and become less of a gloom.

Please give our affectionate regards to Mr. Baruch and a warm welcome home—It was sweet of him to offer to come if W. wanted to see him but of course he did not mean to break up his holiday—and it was just affection that promped his wish to see him—Have a good time—and feel assured I will let you know if we need you With every happy wish—

EBW
