Text
My dear Mr. Haynsworth:
Thank you very much for your kind letter of February 15th. I have had pleasure in showing it to the President. While he is very grateful to you for your generous offer, he regrets extremely that he is not able to avail himself of it. He feels that he should not absent himself from Washington at present.
May I assure you and Mrs. Haynsworth and Mr. Beattie that your friendly interest is genuinely appreciated?
Sincerely yours,
