My dear Mrs. Wilson,
I was most awfully sorry not to reach Washington in time for the garden party, which every one says was most delightful.
I should also have been so glad of the opportunity to tell you how very beautiful everything seemed at the wedding, for I know how happy you must be for them. I met them motoring in New York that next day, & Gertrude’s face was radiant with happiness—I am so glad.
