My dear Doctor
In discussing the President's condition today with Mr. Hines, he mentioned the fact that in the event it should be decided the President should go away from Washington after he has recovered enough to go out, there probably is no better place in the country for such a purpose than Kerhonkson, New York, where a Doctor Ford has a small institution. Mr. Hines said that there is a rather large cottage which would probably be large enough to take care of the President and anyone who went with him and in which the President could obtain entire seclusion and the best of service. Mr. Hines is familiar with the place because of the fact that Mrs. Hines was there in the Fall of the year several years ago. He said the place is unusually pleasant and healthful in the Fall of the year. If you want to look into the matter Mr. Hines has asked me to say that he will be glad to give full information.
Very cordially yours,
Brice Clagett
