Maj. Gen. Edwin M. Watson, veteran military aide to President Roosevelt, was buried in Arlington today.
A memorial mass will be said at St. Matthew’s Cathedral at 9 a. m. tomorrow.
The 61-year-old “Pa” Watson died of a cerebral hemorrhage eight days ago aboard the cruiser bringing Mr. Roosevelt home. His death was revealed yesterday.
“I shall miss him almost more than I can express,” Mr. Roosevelt said in a statement. “There was never a cloud between us in all these years. He helped me greatly.”
Watson was stricken just as the President was leaving Russia by air to rejoin the cruiser in the Mediterranean. Aboard ship he was given every possible medical aid under the direction of Vice Admiral Ross T. McIntire, Mr. Roosevelt’s personal physician.
