Text

Dear

Lincoln Colcord saw Goethals yesterday and he sends me this dispatch this morning. I thought it would be of use to you to know his attitude. Denman and Goethals are both positive characters and I am afraid are too much alike to ever work in harmony. Is it not possible to divide their authority so as to avoid conflict?

Affectionately yours,

Magnolia, Massachusetts.
