Text

My dear Mr. President

My two sons are enlisted for the war; and, having voted in Congress to impose this obligation of service on them, I cannot endure the thought of standing by and doing nothing. It would make me very unhappy: hence I earnestly request that the age limit be waived in my case in order that I may be assigned to active duty somewhere.

Sincerely Yours,
Carter Glass

The President,
Washington,D. C.
