Text

My dear Douglas:

You may be sure it is a deep disappointment to me that I can not be at the dinner to Joe, but there is only one way of getting home and there is no steamer until the 14th. It is literally impossible. My heart will be with you.
I cabled my affectionate contratulations. That was all that time and space permitted, and you may be sure that they were sent from a full heart. It it delightful that Joe's friends should have honored him in that way.

Cordially and sincerely yours,
Woodrow Wilson
