Text

My dear Sir:-

Allow me to thank you very warmly indeed for your letter of January 10th. I do not know any praise of my History that I would rather hear than that which you bestow, that it is at once frank and just, and certainly there is no region from which I would rather have that praise than from the South. One of my chief objects in writing the History was to do justice to the region in which I was bred and which I love, the region which, I think, also I understand and can without presumption speak for. I am indebted to you for a warm act of kindess.

Very cordially yours,
Woodrow Wilson
