My Dear Friend: -

After a great deal of deliberation we have definately decided not to take our Corps of Cadets to the Inauguration.
The exposure from nine to ten o'clock in the morning till sundown in the parade through the streets and the uncertainty of the weather at this season, and the youth of our boys have been the chief factors in deciding against the risk. I trust you will agree with us that our decision is the proper course under the circumstances.
Any boy can go to the Inauguration whose parents give consent and send him the necessary funds. Fifteen dollars should be ample. They would be allowed to leave on the evening of 3rd to report on evening of 5th of March.
With deep respect and kindest regards, I am,

Yours to command,
W.G. Kable
