Dearest Jessie

Here is a cheque for a graduating present. I was told that you would like to have a college seal and that you would have to purchase it yourself. Hence this prosaic way—sending you a cheque instead of a purchase. I had expected to run down to Baltimore for the day of your graduation, leaving here early in the morning, returning at night. But it was just my luck to get an examination scheduled for that day—June 3—so I cannot go. I am disappointed.
Congratulations to you on your ?.
B.K.!
And now, my heartfelt wish for you on your graduation is that your life may be long, useful, happy—all that it should be for one with your gifts of mind and spirit. Good be with you always, dear.

Your affectionate Uncle Stock
