That was a letter worth while—with all the details about the BOY! Bless his darling heart—of course he is good! Who ever said he wasn't? I wouldn't give a cent for a boy who never got mad at anything; and why shouldn't he be cross when he is uncomfortable! Most people are.
This is just a note, to say that your father feels it will be unwise to keep the engagement secret any longer and he is going to announce it next Thursday—day-after-day-after to-morrow. I am devoutly thankful, for they can't any more be careful than Francis can be careful about not letting people guess he is hungry, and in the circumstances I feel it's far better to have it out and any excitement it can causes over with as soon as possible.
I am pretty sure, dear, that the wedding will be just before Christmas, though even the likelihood of it must be a secret for a good while. I'll let you know the minute it's decided.
Loads of love, precious thing, from
Helen
