Text

Darling Jessie

I'm a pill and a p and a selfish brute not to have written to you once since you left. I'm not going to ask you to forgive me for I don't deserve to be forgiven.
Oh I want to see you so; and that precious little Francis, and his rather nice Father. I can hardly wait until June when we shall all be together again and still another little thing added to our family. Isn't it just too lovely to think of! and aren't you glad too that since things have gone well with Nell that she did not know for so long? Now she and we have such a short time to wait. At any rate I'm glad that I don't have to wait long for this little thing, for I nearly died of impatience waiting for your's! The time seemed interminable.Cousin Jessie and Marion are here and they are making the atmosphere of the house so different from what it was after you left. Father is really light hearted at times, apparently at least, and I am sure that he forgets his responsibilities even if his fun is not perfectly spontaneous. You see he cannot help falling into the spirit of anything he is doing.
Last night and Saturday night Cousin Jessie, Marion, Father and I sang together Marion singing base!Father beat time in a lively manner, and enjoyed himself so much that it was touching to the rest of us. Oh he is so wonderful! and so sweet. This summer is going to smean a great deal of comfort and happiness to him I feel sure—and not the least contribution in importance, though the smallest in size will be Francis Sayre Junior.Nell seems so much better than when you were here. I think that the uncertainty must have been in part the cause of her frequent depressions this winter. She seems veryhappy and though not quite as robust as you were perfectly well.
When is the christening to be? I love you dear dear little girl-mother with all my heart.
Give my devoted love to Frank and kiss that darling baby for me (something I wouldn't dare do for myself)

Your devoted sister,
Margaret
