Text

My darling

Just a line to tell you to be sure to get here by half past six on Friday at the latest even if you have to cut a class or two, for the English play comes off that night, and you simply mustnot miss it. We have your ticket already of course. You know it is “Sir Giles Overreach,” with “van Nickel” (last years Mephistopoles, doing splendidly, they say, as Sir Giles. Of course even from the educational point of view it is worth several class hours to you. I am sorry I have been so stupid as not to realize sooner that it was this Friday, so as to give you longer notice.—On the whole I believe I will telegraph you and not trust to this reaching you in time. Your father is in New Orleans(!) Haven, returns tonight. He had a very successful trip in Chicago. He is looking very well still in spite of all the work. He made six speeches in Chicago.

Ever lovingly,
Mother.
