Text
My dear Jessie
I have time just to write you a few lines from the Laboratory to let you know that I havent forgotten that your birthday will soon be here and to wish you many happy returns. I wish I could get something for you Jess but about the only thing I could buy for you at the Mannie store would be a sack of flour or some potatoes or a strip of very gorgeous calico. So I think I will just send you a little something to do your own buying with.
I was very much surprised when I heard how far North you all were going this summer—I almost expected to hear that you girls had gone off early some morning and discovered the North Pole. You are probably cool enough anyway where you are—What sort of a place is it?Well I must say goodbye—Give best love to all and tell Margaret I have not forgotten that I owe her a letter—will answer it soon.Ever lovingly,
Ed.
