Dearest One -
I wonder if you really have felt my thoughts and spirit with you, as they have been, all day —Your dear note, written yesterday just as we were leaving, came up with our breakfast tray this morning - and I could not pay attention to coffee and rolls with such a delicious love song in my keeping.

I am so sorry you were so lonely my precious Lord and hope the rest of the day you were too busy to feel our absence.I wrote you last night and hope it came to you promptly and told you of our happy comfortable journey - after I finished my letter we got to bed - and before I went to sleep I read over again the dear messenger Helen brought me -I slept pretty well, but woke very early this morning with you as my first conscious thought, and the hope that you were well and happy -We had breakfast up stairs, and went out in the car about ten - It is almost cold - and while not raining has been a gray sort of day - Helen wanted to see a friend, whom she took riding and we all enjoyed it - and drove way out Riverside. Then we left the friend and went shopping —I got a little white dress for you to give Helen which she was crazy for

I hope you will like it - and she is so overcome by your thought of her you would be touched if you could have seen her pleasure and appreciation -She had gotten one dress for herself and said she thought this other one was lovely - but she must not get it. So then I told her of what you wrote me - and that I was going to get it for you to give her and she almost cried —The dress was ten dollars and ninety five cents - and I hope you meant for me to get something like that. We went to the Holland House for lunch — and then took a walk up 5 th Ave - which we both love - and looked at a lot of new things & and have just gotten home - and Helen is resting —We are going to the Theatre tonight, and how I wish you were with us.

This is my night to come to dinner with you - I wonder if you will think of it and miss me? Well, I am thinking of it and missing you - and will come in my thoughts and sit at your right - and tell you how glad I am to be back again with my Beloved.I hope you have been interested in this detailed account of what we have done - We are going to leave about ten tomorrow morning - I think - and I will not try to write to you again for you will leave tomorrow - and I wont know where to reach you - So this is goodby until you come to Cornish - It will be three days - but there is no help for it.

You will know I am holding you close in my thoughts - and that I will count the hours until your coming! Helen sends you her love - and she is a perfect dear -I am going to rest now a little while before dinner —We will be a Springfield tomorrow night - and wherever you are my thoughts will follow you - and tell you - I love you -

Always,

Edith
