Mr. President
In extension of your note of 29th March, approving of the appointment of a commission to consider the meat policy, would you be so good as to address a note to the Secretary of Agriculture, Chairman of the Federal Trade Board, Federal Tariff Commission and Secretary of Labour, asking them if they will sit in this capacity ofr select a representative for that purpose? Might I suggest that in such note you throw out the suggestion that whoever may be selected should have no personal interest in either production or distribution.
These gentlemen would probably understand the nature of the problem better if they had copies of the letter which I addressed to you and in case you should desire to adopt this suggestion I enclose herewith some copies of it to save clerical work.
I beg to remain
Your obedient servant,
[Herbert Hoover]
