Dear Mr. President
I am sending you, herewith, a letter on the whole wmeat problem, in amplification of my conversation on Friday in asking for the appointment of a commission to study this subject.
As you have seen by a number of deputations to Washington, there is a great deal of discontent amongst the animal growers in the country, and I believe the appointment of such a commission woud go far to quiet this matter and develop some constructive policy.
I feel that it would do a lot of immediate good, if you find yourself in accord with the proposal that I make, that I should issue the accompanying letter to the press, together with your approval of the appointment of such a commission; and my excuse for writing at such lenglth is to set out with all the care that may be the whole problem to publicaview, as there is the greatest misunderstanding throughout the country as to the Government’s activities in this ijnstance.
Faithfully yours,
[Herbert Hoover]
